Deshbandhu Chittranjan Memorial Society (DCMS), CR Park New Delhi Supported by The Neuroaid and Research Foundation (NRF)

The Neuroaid and Research Foundation has been associated since 2013 with DCMS (a philanthropic institution founded in 1973, managing a not-for-profit multispecialty polyclinic, library and cultural activities). DCMS conducts an annual Free Medical Camp, of which NRF has been an integral part.  Geriatric, Paediatric and Adult populations from the neighbouring communities benefitted through multidisciplinary screening and assessment by an Internist, Cardiologist, Orthopaedician, Dermatologist, Ophthalmologist, Dentist and Homoeopathic specialist. This year “Cancer screening” was a key component of the medical camp ensuring early detection and timely intervention for participants. NRF ably supported DCMS by providing free Physiotherapy Services, along with sugar and  blood pressure check,  ECG, Neuropathy testing , Bone Densitometry and Pulmonary function testing . Specialists emphasize on the crucial role of medical camp in addressing health disparities and improving well-being.

In all 176 people availed camp services . 65% of those tested were found to be hypertensive ; 50% diabetic , 23% had some degree of neuropathy , 60% of those tested were osteopenic and 47% demonstrated mild obstructive pattern in pulmonary function test. Total 25 physiotherapy consultations were done. NRF therapists demonstrated exercises for bone health , muscle strengthening , posture correction and provided ergonomic advice.

The rising percentage of problems points towards importance of early diagnosis and preventive healthcare. Participants were prescribed appropriate medication and advised to meet the respective specialists for detailed investigations and follow up.

Regular organization of such camps can lead to a healthier , more informed and productive urban society.
