World Physiotherapy Day -8th September 2024

World physiotherapy day is a global event aimed at raising awareness about the importance of physiotherapy in maintaining a healthy body.

This year theme is “Low Back pain”. The spine supports the weight of the body transmitting forces from the head and torso down to the lower body. It curves designed to absorb and distribute forces, allowing for an upright posture and proper alignment of the body.

On the occasion of world physiotherapy day -8 th September 2024
NRF organized an “Awareness workshop for spine related problems in teenagers” at Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Memorial Society, C R Park. The number of EWS students are around 25 along with two teachers of DCMS. Students from various age group from standard to 8th -12th present for this workshop.

It focused on common causes of back problems in school going teenagers. As a teenager , it might not always be top of mind, but taking care of your body now, especially when it comes to posture can make a huge difference in your long term health.

The event started with introduction to spine and its role for good health and over all personality through a small talk and presentation. In addition to that we encouraged students for outdoor activity such as cricket, football ,cycling and other physical activity to avoid obesity and anxiety.

Event next step to emphasize more on posture while sitting , standing and during walk as we know due to heavy bags on shoulder sometimes they ignore to walk straight and mostly bend their spine , the most common problems we see in teenager they spend most of their time in scrolling through phones ,gaming and long hour studies which can put lot of strain on neck ,shoulder and back.

The NRF team also demonstrated students some neck , shoulder and back stretching while sitting and standing, demonstrated some strengthening exercises on mats and postural technique to maintain spine curve .Right technique to carry the school bag , lift heavy objects from the floor and lastly sleeping posture.

The event lastly end with a happy note and pamphlet distribution to students which include lot of information regarding active and healthy lifestyle, Most importantly the teacher support to this event is overwhelmed so a big thank you and token of love to teacher for their presence throughout this event.
