On June 5 th 2020, the Neuroaid & Research Foundation (NRF) hosted its inaugural webinar titled “PARKINSON’s: Recent Advances & Impact of Artificial Intelligence.” This webinar marked the beginning of a series of planned sessions by NRF, aiming to unite experts in Parkinson’s disease. With 151 attendees from various Physiotherapy Institutes, Clinics, and Hospitals, the event aimed to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange.
Dr N Subramanian, Director Medical Services of Apollo Hospitals Delhi, set the stage with an overview of the current COVID-19 situation. He then introduced the session speakers : Dr Mukul Varma, Senior Consultant Neurologist at Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, and Dr Prabhat Ranjan, Senior Neuro-physiotherapist at AIIMS.
Dr Varma provided insights into the clinical aspects of Parkinson’s Disease, discussing its signs, symptoms, and available medical treatments. Dr Ranjan emphasised the importance of physiotherapy in Parkinson’s, particularly highlighting the role of virtual training through video presentations. Dr Subramanian concluded the session by expressing gratitude to the speakers for their informative presentations and NRF management for launching this educational series of webinars, given the pandemic situation where physical conferences had become a dream.
