The Neuroaid & Research Foundation (NRF) began a new chapter on 2 January 2023, by collaborating with the Handicapped Welfare Federation (HWF) at Madhu Vihar, IP Extension, New Delhi. Due to the COVID pandemic, HWF could not sustain its physical therapy services. The collaboration with NRF was aimed at restarting the community Physiotherapy services at their Lions Bhavan, Madhu Vihar premises and providing integrated rehabilitation services, by adding Occupational and Speech Therapy. In order to spread awareness amongst the residents of Madhu Vihar and adjoining colonies in IP Extension, a full-day medical and rehabilitation camp was organized on 27 January 2023 at the Gurudwara in Madhu Vihar. Free consultations were provided by various medical experts including Dr. MPS Gandhi (ENT Surgeon & Secretary HWF), Dr. Himanshu Bhargava (Orthopaedic Consultant, Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals), Ankita Singh & Priyadarshini Kirthivasan (Senior PTs, NRF), Monika Srivastava (Lead OT, NRF), Akshit Anand (Visiting Speech Therapist, NRF). The camp commenced at 10 am and continued till 4 pm. Therapists from NRF assessed the patients and provided physical, occupation and speech therapy where appropriate, demonstrated basic exercises and guided them on the importance of undergoing therapy.
About 82 people, most of them from the underprivileged sections, availed of the above services and deeply appreciated the personalized services extended by NRF.
