Neuroaid’s Inaugural Medical Camp: October 3, 2021
In a proactive response to the evolving healthcare landscape during the COVID-19 crisis, Neuroaid embarked on its mission to extend healthcare outreach with its maiden medical camp in October 2021. The core objectives were twofold: firstly, to foster health awareness within communities, and secondly, to bridge the healthcare gap, particularly among the underprivileged segments often sidelined due to a lack of resources or awareness.
Harnessing the synergy of local stakeholders, including the Residential Welfare Associations of Mehrauli and the support of the area’s councillor and colleagues, the camp was orchestrated at Baba Banda Singh Bahadur School, Mehrauli, Delhi. The collaborative effort aimed to address the burgeoning post-COVID complications, underscoring the critical need for intervention and support.
The medical camp, a testament to solidarity and compassionate care, offered an array of services including physician consultations, eye examination, densitometry, diabetic and cardiac checks, and physiotherapy where deemed necessary. Complementing these services, free medicines were generously contributed by Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, Delhi.
A total of 93 individuals, spanning ages 15 to 79, availed themselves of the camp’s services. Preliminary data analysis revealed a striking prevalence of diabetes (35%), hypertension (22%), and bone health concerns (12%), highlighting the pressing need for holistic healthcare interventions. Moreover, a significant number reported musculoskeletal issues, prompting educational sessions and distribution of informative materials on managing joint and back pain.
