Amidst the ongoing pandemic recovery, the elderly population, in particular, is grappling with various health issues like joint stiffness, fatigue, pain, and weakness. Additionally, there has been a surge in occupational health hazards, notably postural problems affecting the neck and back.
DCMS conducts an annual Free Medical Camp, of which NRF has been an integral part. Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Memorial Society (DCMS), a charitable organization offering a range of medical specialties including physiotherapy (provided by NRF), extends its outreach to the community by providing Free Annual Health Checks, comprising an Internist, Cardiologist, Orthopaedician, Dermatologist, Ophthalmologist, Dentist and Homoeopathic specialist.
NRF has, since 2013, partnered with DCMS, collectively contributing to the well- being of society. At the Free Medical Camp conducted on 18 th December 2022, NRF ably supported DCMS by providing free Physiotherapy Services for Musculo- skeletal and Neurological conditions, along with sugar and blood pressure check, ECG, Neuropathy testing and Bone Densitometry for assessing bone health.
Geriatric, Paediatric and Adult populations from the neighbouring communities benefitted through multi-disciplinary screening and assessment, with a total of 130 people availing of the above services. 32 of them received free treatment and consultations consequent upon first time diagnosis of Diabetes Mellitus, Blood Pressure, Osteoporosis, Neuropathy and Musculo-skeletal injury.
Specialists spoke about the importance of going through regular preventive health checks, so that risk factors and diseases if any, could be detected and treated at an early stage. Such initiatives play a vital role in early screening of lifestyle disorders and educating the masses about proper management techniques.
