Annual Free Medical Camp | 10 December 2023 Deshbandhu Chittranjan Memorial Society (DCMS), CR Park New Delhi Supported by The Neuroaid and Research Foundation (NRF)

The Neuroaid and Research Foundation has been associated since 2013 with DCMS (a philanthropic institution founded in 1973, managing a not-for-profit multispecialty polyclinic, library and cultural activities). DCMS conducts an annual Free Medical Camp, of which NRF has been an integral part. Geriatric, Paediatric and Adult populations from the neighbouring communities benefitted through multidisciplinary screening and assessment by an Internist, Cardiologist, Orthopaedician, Dermatologist, Ophthalmologist, Dentist and Homoeopathic specialist. NRF ably supported DCMS by providing free Physiotherapy Services, along with sugar and blood pressure check, ECG, Neuropathy testing and Bone Densitometry. Specialists spoke about the importance of going through regular preventive health checks, so that risk factors and diseases if any, could be detected and treated at an early stage. NRF therapists demonstrated exercises for bone health, muscle strengthening, postural and gait correction, precautions for the elderly for fall prevention, etc. In all, 130 people availed of the above services.

15% of those tested were found to be hypertensive; 18% diabetic; 28% were detected to have Vitamin D deficiency and 7% had some degree of neuropathy – all of which pointed to the significance of taking care of the health of self and family pre-emptively, so as to avoid huge treatment costs in future. They were prescribed appropriate medication and advised to meet the respective specialists for detailed investigations and follow up.
