A Celebration of Strength: 2024 Wheelchair Tennis National

“Strength doesn’t come from what you can do. It comes from overcoming the things you once thought you couldn’t” – Rikki Rogers

The AITA Wheelchair National Tennis Championship 2024, hosted by the Delhi Lawn Tennis Association (DLTA), took place at the iconic RK Khanna Stadium from April 24th to 27th, 2024.

The tournament kicked off with a grand inauguration by Mr Sudhanshu Trivedi, Member of Parliament, along with Ms Richa Bakshi, DLTA Administrative Head, and other esteemed DLTA officials. The Neuroaid and Research Foundation (NRF) was invited by DLTA to provide physiotherapy support to all players participating in the 4-day tournament. NRF has always been forthcoming in serving the specially abled sportsmen and women, and readily offered their services probono.

Senior physiotherapists from NRF, alongside dedicated volunteers from the IAMR (Institute of Applied Manpower Research) College, delivered essential on-site support to athletes from across the country. The energy and excitement amongst the players were palpable; their spirit undaunted. Physiotherapy services included comprehensive pre- and post-match warm-ups, stretching exercises, cool-down sessions, and on-field preventative and curative treatment.

The DLTA team expressed deep gratitude for NRF’s unwavering commitment and exceptional services, acknowledging their crucial role in ensuring the well-being and performance of all participants. The event was a true testament to the spirit of overcoming challenges and celebrating the extraordinary resilience of these remarkable athletes.
